Traditonal Weapons

Here at our dojo, we don't just teach self-defense—we teach a deeper understanding of the martial arts through our weapons classes. Learning to wield a traditional weapon, like the bo staff or katana, is an incredible way to develop your focus, discipline, and physical coordination.

Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way, from the basic stances and grips to complex forms and applications. You'll learn the history and philosophy behind each weapon, connecting with centuries of martial arts tradition.

Whether you're looking to challenge yourself in a new way, enhance your existing skills, or simply explore this fascinating aspect of martial arts, our weapons program offers a unique and rewarding journey.

  • We’ve been members of ChoChin Dojo for more than two years now, and without a doubt, it stands out as one of the best martial arts schools my daughter and I have ever joined. What makes this a truly exceptional teaching dojo is its commitment to bridging tradition with practical skill.

Sensei Jason honors the traditions of Japanese martial arts, providing a deeply respectful and rich cultural context for every technique, while also ensuring we learn powerful skills with clear real-world applications. This balance is rare, and it creates an environment where both of us feel constantly challenged and inspired. Everyone helps everyone be better at the dojo. If you’re looking for authentic and impactful martials arts experience, ChoChin Dojo is the place the be.

  • Martial arts has been so much more than simply an activity for our kids.  It’s been a family journey and it has truly become a way of life.  The reasons for joining and then staying evolved from simply self defense and mobility into something far deeper.

Through training, our family has been challenged to develop our balance in our bodies and minds.  Our egos are challenged in how to receive detailed instruction with a mind to improvement and not to create a goal to reach perfection.  Our ability to work on the mat and receive instruction from my child on how to do a technique better are lessons that reach far beyond the mat. We’ve seen our children and ourselves as parents, grow in confidence, focus, and responsibility. We have learned as a family that progress does not come instantly, but through patience, effort, and consistency. As a family, we’ve gained connection, not just with each other, but with a supportive community that encourages everyone to be their best.

Martial arts has given us shared goals, meaningful challenges, and moments of pride we’ll never forget — from earning belts to simply showing up and giving our best effort together. It has strengthened our family bond and helped us all become more mindful, respectful, and resilient individuals.

We are deeply grateful for everyone there because the spirit of the dojo is to lead with integrity and heart, and our positive environment continues to inspire us every day.  This dojo has made us stronger — physically, mentally, as a family, and as a community.
